General Questions

What is Pathwell Financial?

Pathwell is a local-only, desktop application built for small businesses to create and validate NACHA (ACH) files. It simplifies the process of formatting payment files correctly so they are accepted by your bank on the first try.

Why shouldn't I just use my bank's portal?

Many bank portals have clunky interfaces and provide vague error messages only *after* a file fails. Pathwell gives you a simple workflow and a clear validation report upfront, saving you the time and frustration of troubleshooting a rejected file.

Security & Data

Is my financial data secure?

Absolutely. Pathwell is a desktop application that you download and run locally on your computer. Your beneficiary data, payment information, and generated files are never sent to our servers or any third party. It all stays with you.

Does Pathwell store my data in the cloud?

No. All data, including your beneficiary address book and payment templates, is stored in a secure file on your local computer's hard drive. Nothing is ever stored in the cloud.

Technical & Usage

What exactly is a NACHA file?

A NACHA file is a specially formatted text file that contains all the necessary instructions for the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network to move money from one bank account to another. It includes details like routing numbers, account numbers, amounts, and effective dates.

Does Pathwell transmit the file to my bank?

No. Pathwell is strictly a file generator and validator. You download the generated file from the app and then upload it through your bank's treasury portal as you normally would.

What if my bank isn't listed in the templates?

We are continuously adding new bank templates based on user demand. If you join the waitlist, you can let us know which bank you use, and we will prioritize adding a template for it.
